The program is designed to calculate the risk of a person suffering from a heart attack in the next ten years depending on cholesterol levels and their effects. Blood Cholesterol level is one of major risk factors for any heart disease. Cholesterol is a waxy substance in our body that protects our nerves. Too much of cholesterol can lead to accumulation in arteries and thus reduce the blood supply to the heart. This may result in a stroke or heart attack. The total cholesterol level is the sum of all the cholesterol in your blood. The HDL cholesterol is the good cholesterol and protects against heart disease. The LDL cholesterol is the bad cholesterol and is the main reason for blockage in the arteries. A heart attack can be defined as the condition that occurs when a part of the heartā€™s wall muscles is deprived of blood. This may lead to the death of some muscle cells. This happens when blood supply isnā€™t regular and is blocked by fat deposits or blockages. This software is based on the Framingham Heart Study. This software can be used as guideline to take preventive measures that can eliminate or reduce the risk of a heart attack.
